My Uncle Jon Archie passed away today.  I am overcome with sadness.  He and my Dad shared a love of farming.  My Mom said my Dad always said Archie was a better farmer because he loved it more. My, and most people’s, memories of him always involved a cigar, always unlit.  He loved Pete’s Fish and Chips and ASU football. It was so wonderful to have been able to visit him the last years.  I will forever miss him. I might just have a Pete’s for him on my next trip to Arizona.  Hugs and love to my Aunt Liz and his family.

I love that there was a connection between my paternal and maternal families through him. He liked to tell me he saw how my Mom’s brother spelled his name “Jon” and decided to spell his that way also.  I thought it was funny and was well aware of the story. Uncle Jon Archie was actually named after his paternal grandfather John Newton Tucker and his Dad Archie.

I was just thinking about my Uncle Jon Archie and his mischievous nature.  He and his life long friend Charleigh used to have such fun pulling stunts.  I remember him telling me about one in particular involving my parents.  They had moved to Arizona early in their marriage and lived in a house near my grandparents when Jon Archie was still a teenager.  His friend Charleigh and he got a girl they knew to call my mom and ask for my dad to get him in trouble with mom.  My dad was livid at them but the two boys thought it was hilarious.  Even as he told the story in his later years, I could tell through his laughter that he had no remorse even then.  I asked my mom about it and she said those two were always up to something.  His friend Charleigh passed away this year as well.  They were still good buddies.
